Scrappin' Moms Idol 3: ELIMINATION Round

The much awaited scrapping event here in the Philippines is back!
It is a 2-month long challenge organized by the Scrappin’ Moms. The main objective is to display the creativity and artistry of the Filipino scrapbooker. This is a chance for us Filipinos to showcase the degree of talent that is very abundant here and comparable to our international counterparts. The finals will be an On-the-Spot challenge with the Top 10 Finalist on August 29, 2009.

This is actually my first time to join this friendly competition since I only started scrapping around October last year and this event usually takes pla
ce on the month of August. To be honest, I decided not to join this year because I am still new to this and I am quite intimidated with all experienced scrappers we have here, but with a lot of encouragement from my friends, I decided to try out and made a layout the day before the deadline.

This year’s theme is about going back to basics, back to the true meaning of a scrapbooker – preserving your family’s memories in pages that transcends time and trends. And for the Elimination Round, the challenge was to create a layout using this ad as our inspiration

And here is my take:
Title: Pure You

Journaling: "Baby, you are who you are innocent and sweet sent by God like an angel to give us hope, love, and unity."

Design Notes: For this particular layout, I was inspired by the color combination of the ad so I decided to use Black, Red, Orange and Yellow on my layout. I admit that this is something new to me since I am used to creating very detailed projects with tons of cutouts and distressing but since the theme of this year's Scrappin Moms Idol is BACK TO BASICS, I tried to make a simpler layout and concentrate more on the photos. I have adopted the circles on the layouts as well as almost all the patterns you can see on it.

Materials Used: Black Coor'dinations Cardstock, Prima-Signs of Spring pp, BasicGrey Dasher pp, Creative Imaginations DieCut pp, Pink Paislee Fashion Script Sticker Alphas, Kaiser Pearl Stickons, Dew drops, Buttons, TimHoltz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain), felt cloth, My2Angel's Black Scroll Felt Frame

Feel free to view all the entries here.

So do you think I have what it take to be the next Scrappin'n Moms Idol? Hmmmm, I do hope so.

I'll keep you posted! Wish me luck!

A Day At The Park!

Good day to you all!

For today's post, I will not share a layout or a project but instead, I will be posting photos taken at the park on our small celebration of Fathers Day. I have not scrapped for a week now still because of the migraine I am having lately. I was advised by my doctor to take it slow and drink some meds.

In celebration of Fathers Day, me and my family decided to go to the park and enjoy summer. I can say that it was one of the best day we had.

On these 3 photos, we were so excited because Hannah was finally walking on her own now. Isn't it exciting? I was so thrilled and proud to see my baby walking with no assistance from us. She really have grown. I am a proud mama LOL

On these next 2 photos are my baby and hubby lounging at the park. It made my eyes watery to see them two together having such a great time. It made me realize how lucky I am and how happy I am to have them both. Happy Fathers Day sweetie!

Finally, the last 2 photos were taken while my hubby and DD was playing along at the park with the gift we bought for Hannah on her birthday, a remote-controlled car.

We really had a great time together. My DH said that it was the best Fathers Day gift he had. Duh! :P It was his first anyway LOL.

Thanks for looking!

I am so happy to know that I have such great friends all over the world. Despite the distance ladies, I feel that i am very lucky to have each one of you. THANK YOU!

Anyway, I'll be back later, just want to leave you with some more layouts that I did last week .

Layout 1

I distressed the pps by sanding and using some of Tim Holtz's Distressing Inks. Also did some paper tearing and curling on the edges. I also used Creative Scrapper's Sketch #10

Layout 2
I decided to scrap about my family's get -together last April. Almost all of my siblings have their own family now like me. I miss then so much

It took several hours to finish this LO. I first painted the Prima paintable pp with watercolor then I cut them out. It took me 2hours just to cutout the flower image. My hands are quite numb now since i used a stencil cutter.

Hi my fellow scrappers!!!! Hope everybody is doing okay as of the moment.

Some details of the layout:

Package #2

The second package came from my dearest friend Tracy, owner of My2Angels Online Store. She asked me a few months ago if I can help her promote her store by creating some projects using her products and other scrapbook supplies available at her store.

Of course I said "Hell YES!!!

Package #3

The last package came from one of my wonderful friend and my co-DT at Sweeties Sketches, Kathie. This is actually a blog candy that I won from her blog and she said that it is just a part of the entire RAK so I should be receiving more anytime soon. Unbelievable!!!

A Very Touching Song!

Good day to you all!!!

For my post today, i would like to share to you a video of one of the most talented teens in the whole world, Charice (a girl from Manila), who graced the international scenes last year only. This video was taken from Oprah where she sang her recording single "Note to God"

I would like to share it to all of you because, aside from the fact that she is very talented, the meaning of the song is really divine. It always made me cry everytime I watch it.

I hope you were touched like I was with this song.

I was invited by Shell Barnard, owner of Sweetie's Sketches and previous owner of Ready Set Scrap, to be one of the Design Team Member of Sweetie's Sketches. For my 2nd Toot, I was surprised to receive an email from Erica Weinstock of YourScrapbookStash.com that I was chosen to be featured as their Guest Designer for the month of June. Isn't it amazing how God works in mysterious ways to have most of my wishes come true?

Using Scraps!

Good day!

As I have mentioned yesterday, I had been busy scrapping for the past few days and I would reveal each individual project on a daily basis.

For today's post, I would like to share to everyone a layout that I did for Lori's CC Challenge which is to use up some scraps (used stash) and a non-traditional scrapping material on a layout. This challenge is one of the many challenges over at ScrapThat!'s 1 week Crop. I would like to invite you all to drop by and checkout the other amazing entries from the gallery section. Feel free to join us since the deadline of the 1 week crop is June 8. Once you've joined please indicate that you got the invitation from me please. Thanks!

So here it is, a layout using a recent photo taken last Saturday

For this layout, I've used my remaining BasicGrey's Eva Collection Pack and some Deja Views Diecuts. The non-scrapping item is the feathers and the flower which was taken from our living room LOL.

Thank you Lori for this amazing challenge, I almost forgot about these pps but now was able to use it. Thanks for viewing! Check out my next reveal tomorrow!

ATC's

Good day to everybody!!!

I have been very busy for the past few days of this week creating layouts after layouts from ScrapThat!'s CyberCrop. I am really enjoying their first organized crop with such amazing inspirational challenges. Their team is really doing a fantastic job with the event.

I would like to share to you all my LOs but I decided to post it one at a time for the next few days so that I can blog it for the entire week. Just to add some suspense feel to my blog LOL.

Anyway, for my June 3 reveal, I would like to share to you something that I think I might be addicted too very soon, ATCs. I have never done it before but have read all about it from everywhere since it's quite popular now. The reason why i wasn't much inspired to do it before is I can't swap it to my friends worlwide due to postage cost. But because of a blog that I run into, Triple the Scrap, I got the idea that I can just do it for myself for the meantime, maybe create an ATC inspired Carousel.

So here it is, my first ATC's inspired by Amanda's ATC Challenge at ScrapThat! CC:

Photobucket

Not bad for my first time eh? Hahaha. I love this ATC idea because I have lots of used stash on a box because I dont throw out even the small pieces of pps left.

Thanks for viewing and special thanks Amanda for this inspiration.
