The much awaited scrapping event here in the Philippines is back! It is a 2-month long challenge organized by the Scrappin’ Moms. The main objective is to display the creativity and artistry of the Filipino scrapbooker. This is a chance for us Filipinos to showcase the degree of talent that is very abundant here and comparable to our international counterparts. The finals will be an On-the-Spot challenge with the Top 10 Finalist on August 29, 2009.
This is actually my first time to join this friendly competition since I only started scrapping around October last year and this event usually takes place on the month of August. To be honest, I decided not to join this year because I am still new to this and I am quite intimidated with all experienced scrappers we have here, but with a lot of encouragement from my friends, I decided to try out and made a layout the day before the deadline.
This year’s theme is about going back to basics, back to the true meaning of a scrapbooker – preserving your family’s memories in pages that transcends time and trends. And for the Elimination Round, the challenge was to create a layout using this ad as our inspiration
And here is my take:
Title: Pure YouJournaling: "Baby, you are who you are innocent and sweet sent by God like an angel to give us hope, love, and unity."
Design Notes: For this particular layout, I was inspired by the color combination of the ad so I decided to use Black, Red, Orange and Yellow on my layout. I admit that this is something new to me since I am used to creating very detailed projects with tons of cutouts and distressing but since the theme of this year's Scrappin Moms Idol is BACK TO BASICS, I tried to make a simpler layout and concentrate more on the photos. I have adopted the circles on the layouts as well as almost all the patterns you can see on it.
